Here's a few places that you can look and find some really excellent SEO companies and independents.
The first place I'd check is Craigslist.
First, go through a search using the services section and scroll through all the choices of people and companies you can work with.
Keep in mind, that many of these workers can be very poorly put together and some can be those few experts that you are looking for.
...So be sure to keep a sharp eye out for the details.
I strongly recommend posting an ad even if you don't have an account.
This way, many of the harder workers will look to find you, and those are usually some of the better companies and workers.
Be sure to get the message across in the title that you are looking to hire an SEO worker.
...this will keep the traffic flowing in and out of your ad less confused.
Once you receive an email from these freelancers, setup a time to get on the phone with them, and pick their brain to see what they know.
Why get on the phone with them? Why not just work through messages?
Because you can usually right off the bat tell if someones a smuck or the real deal. And thats only easy to tell on the phone. ....emails don't always do the trick.
The next way to find a good SEO worker, (this is probably what I'd do first if you really don't have a clue)
is to ask a close friend who they've used for them and what kind of results they gained from using that person, product or company.
This should be a good enough start for you. I hope now your starting to gain some ideas and "know hows" in order to get this job done.
