What is Your SEO Strategy?

Many site owners buy offers of "on-page optimization (15 days) + Link building (4 months) = Top 10 Spot on Search Engines", however they are thinking very short term.

What happens after they have undertaken this short SEO diet?

Well in my experience, their site may rank highly for a keyword for a few weeks, maybe even a few months and than it will fade away again.

SEO is about identifying the correct primary keyword and second keyword for your site, optimising the content in your site around your chosen keywords, promoting your content pages, building quality back links across relevant and various sites, blogs, social communities. You then also have to watch what your competitions are doing and see whether you can replicate their success or even beat them.

Then you also need to target more relevant keywords, so that your SEO strategy does not flounder and optimise your content to suit your chosen keywords. You need to keep doing this repetitively so that you keep your web site in the top ten results of the major search engines rather than then top forty.

Why do some web site owners go on a SEO diet (i.e. very short term SEO)? Some owners are not properly educated about SEO and therefore think that SEO is only required every 3-6 months and everything will be good. However the reality is that if you keep plugging away gradually you will have a healthy site that has a good number of relevant back links, ranks well, is popular and will continue to do well.

If a site is left alone after some SEO work, you will notice that after a few weeks or months, it will gradually begin to lose traffic. It loses this traffic, because there is no one maintaining the site and the competitors are working harder to beat your site and rank higher than you. Now it certainly makes sense to do a little each and every day/week rather than once a month because that will ensure you should learn about SEO, whilst practicing it as well.

So the question is, is your SEO strategy short term or long term?
