Have you been reading the forums and blogs on internet marketing lately. I have and dare I say they are going a little overboard with the "SEO is dead" topic. Like really, SEO will never die. No matter what medium you use to get your content on the net, SEO will always be one more way to get more targeted traffic.
Lets take a look here. Many people are claiming SEO is dead because they can use Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Squidoo, etc, to get their info onto the net in a easy manner. These Content Management Systems sure make life easy, but CMS will never be taken as seriously as a Google search.
Look at it this way: Say you wanted to find out about refinancing your mortgage. Are you going to search Facebook, or Youtube for this information. I wouldn't, and I bet you wouldn't either. I would go to Google and search for "Refinancing a Mortgage".
What you'll find is good content pages, with great SEO and incoming links from other authority sites. Sure they may use these other mediums like Youtube and twitter, but these are just for generating traffic, it's not their main source. Their SEO is what gets them the real targeted traffic.
Maybe one day Google will include the CMS into their algorithms, but I can guarantee you when this happens, those who are knowledgeable in SEO will be right up there in the front to utilize it and use it to their advantage.
To make the money on the internet you need to know how to play by the rules and use them to your advantage. The big internet giants like Google are the ones that set the rules. You try to fight them and you won't get anywhere. Working with them is the biggest and best choice and internet marketer can make.
They set the Search Engine Algorithms and they are the ones that will decide how to best use SEO. But they will never kill of SEO. SEO is not dead, and will never die. It is how the search engines work and those who think otherwise are missing out on a lot of good traffic and money.
