How Long Will My SEO Take?

There is no definitive way to absolutely guarantee you will get to the top of Google through natural SEO. Internet technology is changing all the time, so even if some one did know the secrets of Google today, this time next week things could be completely different.

One thing to consider when doing SEO is that natural SEO is guaranteed to take time. How long it will be until you start to see your website jump up the rankings is dependent on a big number of factors.
Some of these factors are:-

• Whether or not your site already has some optimization in place.
• How many incoming links your site has.
• If your site is a new or existing site.
• The amount of competition there is for your chosen keyword.

It is impossible to say exactly how long it will take to get up there in the page rankings. With so many factors involved it is a bit of an unknown quantity but by doing clever SEO you can certainly tip the balance more in your favor.

To try and give you some idea of the approximate timescales involved; for a really niche keyword, which will have the least competition (this could be a long tail keyword or phrase), you could be looking at anything from as little as a month or two for a new website. For a site that has already been online for a while you could literally see improvements within a week or two.

For a more competitive keyword where you are still using a modifier such as a geographical area; for a new site you could be looking at anywhere from 6-12 months or up to 4 months or so for an established site.

For broad keywords there will be massive competition and for a new site or existing site it could take anything from a year or more, but depending on the factors above it could be turn out to be nigh on impossible.

The best thing to do to start getting up there in the rankings is to start optimizing longer tail keywords and less competitive phrases first and then take it from there.
